Planned Parenthood Ottawa’s fundraising event was a great success on Saturday, March 11 at Centretown’s Dom Polski Hall. It was a night to remember with Sexual Overtones performing sexual satire to two sold-out audiences. They provided quality entertainment that was body-, female- and sex-positive, playful and all-inclusive.
Nadine Thorhill, PPO’s Insight Theatre Coordinator and Apartment 613 sex columnist, started the show by performing her spoken-word poetry.
Next, the Sexual Overtones took to the stage and performed some new creative acts and a few of their classics. PPO’s staff were asked what their favourite performances were: Heather loved the “New Cocks on the Block”, Andrea’s favourite was “Fang-tastic Massage Therapy”, and Courtney and Leanne’s favourite was “Centripetal Force” and wished they could keep a hula-hoop off the ground.
Audience members also engaged in sexy games such as Banana Ring Toss, Sex Jeopardy, ‘Pin the Penis’ and Condom Conehead where winners were entered into a draw for cool prizes. Also, there were drinks from local Kichesippi brew and tasty treats from Auntie Loo’s. The event ended with the dance floor opening up allowing people to dance, mingle, and celebrate.
On behalf of the PPO team, thank you! This event would have not been possible without Apartment 613
, the Sexual Overtones
and all our sponsors and wonderful volunteers. We could not have done it without your time and dedication!
A special thanks to our condom-wrapping team and our team of event volunteers who did an excellent job of handling the door, providing security, managing the games, and selling merchandise: Amanda B, Amanda N, Christina, Suzanne, Onessa, Anne, Sarah, Ragen, Anastasia, Victoria M., Selena, Victoria T.O., Ania, Lauren D-H, and Clay.
Thanks to Colin White for designing the creative colourful poster!
