Parenting Forum: Making Connections & Sharing Tools and Resources

Wednesday February 17, 2016
Jean Pigott Hall – City Hall
We would like to invite parents, guardians, and parental figures to an evening to connect and exchange knowledge about the revised Ontario Health and Physical Education curriculum.

Parents have reached out to our organizations to express their need to have more tools and resources to have conversations with their children.  This forum was planned in conjunction with parents, and the event will focus on providing an opportunity for parents to ask questions to community organizations on the topics listed below, and to have discussion with other parents.

Topics to be discussed: Consent at all ages & healthy relationships; Physical and emotional changes during puberty; Digital awareness: a guide for parents; Gender identify & sexual orientation; Sexual activity.

We ask that you RSVP to by clicking on the link, however this is not a requirement to attend the event.

The organizing committee includes: Sexual Assault Network, Family Services Ottawa, Ottawa Coalition to End Violence Against Women, Planned Parenthood, and parents from the Ottawa community.

Please note this event is about sharing information and providing a space for parents to engage with other parents. It is not a community consultation on the specifics of the curriculum.
