Catherine comes to PPO after two years as Executive Director for a non-profit Aboriginal preschool in Ottawa.
Catherine started her professional development with Planned Parenthood of Toronto twenty years ago as a volunteer Sexual Health Counselor while she obtained a degree in Women's Studies with a focus on sexual health and reproductive rights. Since then, she spent five years as a volunteer labour partner for pregnant teens and worked in emergency shelters and transition homes for women with children, young women and men and people living with HIV.
While at the International Development Research Centre, Catherine conducted HIV research in Nairobi among pregnant women and in Botswana with survivors of domestic violence. She worked for 2 years in rural Botswana at a school for AIDS orphans and managed a $10,000,000 primary education program in Mozambique.
Catherine also holds a diploma in Heath Services Administration and an MA in Political Economy. After a long foray into educational programming, she is very excited to be 'coming home' to Planned Parenthood and the field of sexual health.
We are immensely excited to have Catherine on board - we love her energy, her vision for PPO and her diverse experience. Please do not hesitate to contact me or Catherine with questions or comments. Catherine can be reached via email or by phone at 613-226-3234 ext. 301
