In her professional life, Lauren is the Senior Manager of Government Relations for a national charity. Her background lies in politics, and she has worked in both Westminster and on Parliament Hill, including for late NDP leader Jack Layton.
Lauren will be joined on the executive by our new Vice-President Beth Palmer. Beth is excited to step into the role of Vice President after a year on the board of PPO. Coming from Toronto, Beth has worked at METRAC, the Metropolitan Action Committee on Violence Against Women and Children, and was a peer counsellor at the University of Toronto Sexual Education Centre. She has a PhD in Canadian History, and her dissertation, Choices and Compromises: The Abortion Movement in Canada, 1969-1988, looks at the pro-choice movement from the partial legalization of abortion to the Morgentaler decision. She now works in politics.
Other members of the Board of Directors are Dr Jonathan Huber, Jocelyn Wentland, Micheline Dube (Treasurer), Maryann Notarini (Secretary), Rebecca Bromwich, and Andrea Proulx (past President).
Lauren, Beth and the rest of the board look forward to meeting everyone in person at our AGM, at 6pm on June 25th at Sunnyside Library.
As ever, you are always welcome to contact us with thoughts, ideas and concerns.
