Exciting Announcements for Summer! Andrea and Rachel Update May 2013

We are welcoming both Hailey Hechtman as the Volunteer and Client Service Coordinator and Gabrielle Castilloux as BSW Summer Intern to the PPO Team.  They have both bitten into some substantial projects already and we are delighted to have them with us!  Please make sure to say hello if you are in the office!

We have the fantastic news the HRSDC Summer Student program has funded an 8 week position for PPO, a new team member to be announced soon!  Also, the Rideau Valley Roller Girls have invited us to a bout on May 25th  – love community based fundraising!  And the Girls' Action Foundation has just invited us to be a part of phase 2 of their Girls Programming Evaluation project, looks like we’ll be launching a new Girl’s Program in January 2014!

You may have caught the 50th Anniversary of PPO’s work in the community brewing in the air!  Well, we are delighted to share that Ian Capstick and Penny Collenette have both agreed to co-Chair this important celebration at “Choice” an event of small plate and wine pairings at the lovely Zen Kitchen.  More caring community organizations have come forward as sponsors including Ottawa Woman, Media Style, The Cooperators, and Venus Envy.  Already, the excitement is brewing!

We are also busy in June with so many great ways to tell our stories!  Insight at Fringe with the “In the First Place” performances, is a first for PPO and so exciting!  Luna and troupe member Leah Careless will also be presenting Insight Theatre and Sunny will be presenting findings from Bridging Services for Women at the Guelph Sexuality Conference in June. Rachel will be attending the LGBTQ-A* Service Providers' Summit and participating in the panel discussion “*Over coming that challenge: organizations share their greatest challenge and their solution”.

Don’t forget to come an hear about our research projects, see Insight do a few sketches and learn about our proposed Strategic Plan at the AGM.  It will be in the same location as last year, the Sunnyside Branch of the Ottawa Public Library.  We will have some lovely treats to share and would love to reconnect with you all!

Thanks for everything, and enjoy the summer… but don’t forget to check your newsletter… there will be more to share!
